Another early start to see us dock into the port of Olden. Yet again some truly breathtaking views as we approached. I shall yet again let the pictures do the talking.

We hadn’t got any tours planned today so we decided to go it alone and listened to the advice of reader Sue Reid and took the Troll Train from outside the ship. It cost us 200NOK each (£20) and the tour took us out of the port, through town and around the waterfall. We had views of the river, waterfall and the glaciers at the top of the snow capped mountains. This was worth every Ore we spent on it and although a bit nippy today and very damp we enjoyed every minute.

We had the train drop us off in “town”. It only has a Co-Op and a small 3 shop mall but allowed us to get the all important trinkets.

I decided to be brave and picked up from the counter what to look at appears to be a Norwegian Peparami…it was definitely ‘a bit of an animal’ though as it was a Reindeer Sausage (see the picture). It wasn’t that bad actually, not something that I shall be rushing out to buy again but it was nice. Dad didn’t think to much to it but, if you get the chance give it a go, it was only 29NOK.

After a short 10 min walk back to the ship we got back onboard for a Costa and Cake in Java to warm up. We shared our company with a delightful seasoned cruiser from the valleys of Wales.

Back off again, next up the fridge magnets and some Norway long sleeved Tee’s. Decided to buy myself something more than a magnet for once.

The next stop is the most important stop of the day, I’m sure you can guess what’s coming if you have been reading every day…THE PUB. I couldn’t tell you for one minute what the beer was called but it was so nice I had 2x 0.4l glasses before I wobbled back to the ship (I hadn’t eaten since breakfast at 6:45 and it’s now 14:30). The bar is right outside the ship so it wasn’t too hard!

Nose Bags suitably satisfied with fried chicken it was time for an afternoon nap. Nothing much to report on there! 😂

Sail-away is upon us and as promised there was a great spirit coming from the pub on the quayside. With a rendition of Rod Stewart and Status Quo and a Norwegian Flag waving ceremony we were underway. Thanks Olden it was beautiful and I can’t wait to meet you again on the new lady of the fleet in 2020.

Tonight we dine in The Beach House. I’d like to say enjoy the pictures of my food but I ate it to quickly before I realised I hadn’t snapped them. Great dining experience but it was a bit drafty up there which was a bit of a shame but otherwise it was brill.

Not that I’m becoming predictable or anything but I’m tapping this out right now in The Planet Bar listening to pianist Josh tinkling with his ivories.

Last port tomorrow (Bergen) already…boooo and then it is a Sea day before Southampton.

Thanks everyone again for reading, I’m loving your comments.
