Slightly early start in Stavanger as I wanted to see Azura arrive alongside. We did a little bit of a loop the loop in the bay as unusually the pilot was late and appeared to be in a fishing trawler which moved at a glacial pace.

Stavanger wasn’t quite what I expected on arrival and felt very much more like a coastal city than a town on a Fjord. It’s my first time up here so I really didn’t know what to expect but the views are still wow!

Once birthed Marella Discovery joined us alongside.

We didn’t have a tour booked here so decided to go it alone, which I think for a first visit wasn’t a bad decision. We headed out and walked around to the old town. To say the heavens opened though was an understatement, glad I had a brolly and coat.

We chose to dive into the Canning Museum. It came to 285NOK for the 3 of us to enter and give free entry to the Maritime Museum too. It was pretty interesting tbh, I never thought I’d say that about Sardines. We also managed to get an included guided tour which helped.

We carried on round and partook in some more selfies, it’s become the law now on any holiday. See the troll and chimp selfies.

Made it round the maritime museum which was again another interesting venue. Plenty of replica ships and even the original Smoke Room/Snug from SS Stavanger I.

Mum managed to grab herself some bargain knit ware from the market as gifts for back home. Hopefully the kids will like them.

The port of Stavanger has plenty of home comforts in it for your visit. Burger King, 7 Eleven, McDonalds plus copious amounts of Bars, Bistro and Restaurants including a Starbucks.

After a spot of lunch back on Azura we headed back out into town and discovered some amazing coloured buildings (you’ll see them below) and picked up the usual trinkets to take back with us. In my case Fridge Magnets. We also met Red Ducks Norwegian Cousin, Red Duckjørn (see the pics).

We finished up our time ashore with a beer. It’s become tradition to try a local beer in every port we visit. Stavanger was no exception and we were recommended Lucky Jack from Hillevagg Brewery by the hostess in Villa 22.

Back onboard it was Evening Casual tonight, we planned to head to the Playhouse to see Headliners perform Evolution, however dude to the very choppy seas the show got cancelled. So we went to see High Tides again perform in Malabar and finished the evening Planet Bar listening to the Pianist play.

Oh well just arrived in Flaam and wow you’re in for a treat later with the pictures of the views. Check back in later with you all.
